
A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Cairo’s Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood, following the collapse of a 7-story residential property where the late artist Nour Al-Sharif spent her childhood.
The security services of the Cairo Security Directorate received a report from residents that a residential property on Mohamed Inayat Street in Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood had completely collapsed.
Immediately, security services, civil defense vehicles and ambulances rushed to the scene and removed the resulting debris and rubble, and a security cordon was set up around the incident site, the injured were transferred to the hospital and the bodies of the victims were recovered.
Initial examinations revealed that there were victims under the rubble, and the Civil Defense forces rescued 7 people, including the deceased, from the bottom of the property, and the injured were transferred to the hospital for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased were recovered and transferred to the hospital refrigerator, and rescue teams continued search operations to recover the remaining missing under the rubble.
The property witnessed the childhood of the late artist Nour Al-Sherif, who lost his father at a young age and grew up in this ancient house under the care of his uncles, and in 2021, director Mohsen Ahmed requested that the building be named “Nour Al-Sherif” in honor of and documenting his professional and artistic legacy.
On the other hand, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber visited the scene to inspect the rescue of the injured, the recovery of the deceased, and the removal of debris and rubble.
